This intervention was created at Vernon Public Art Gallery, while I worked there as the preparator. We had a graffiti exhibit that was slated to be painted over, which was my opportunity to stencil over someone else's tags. I talked to Benny Hannya, one of the graffiti artists, and he was fine with me defacing his work. I created large hand-cut stencils in advance and spent the late evening modifying the walls. Urban Adaptation was up for three days, until it was time to paint the walls white for the next exhibits.
